Message from the Mile High Men’s Golf Club Rules Committee:    December 18, 2024

  • Temporary Relief Rule:

Effective today the MHMGC rules committee has decided to return to the temporary relief rule until further notice.
Within your own fairway when lying in an abnormal course condition (dirt), you may take complete relief onto the closest grass, no closer to the hole.

  • Lost ball:

Reminder you only have 3 minutes to find your potentially lost ball once you arrive in the general vicinity of where the ball is thought to be.

  • Slow Play Warning 4 hours or less:

Slow play will not be tolerated in MHMGC events. The tournament committee will assess penalties up to and including disqualification for slow play. (see tips for speeding up play)

Ready Golf means BEING READY to play, not playing when you're ready. Here are some simple rules if you find your group falling behind.

  1. Walk to your ball as soon as possible, so that you can choose your club and think about the shot in ADVANCE, not when it is your turn.
  2. When driving a cart, drop off your partner first, let your partner choose his or her club, and then drive to your own ball to get READY to play.
  3. When a ball is lost, hit your shot FIRST and then help look for the lost ball. Play a provisional ball when you think your ball might be lost prior to searching.
  4. NEVER play in a caravan, moving in a group from ball to ball.
  5. When on the Green, line up your putt BEFORE it is your turn, and putt out immediately instead of marking, if you are not in someone else's line.
  6. Try to play you ball within 20 seconds

Welcome to the MHMGC at Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott AZ.  We have access to 36 holes of championship golf.  Antelope Hills has hosted numerous professional, amateur and corporate golf tournaments and outings.  Our club provides a complete menu of competitive events that include regular weekend tournaments. We play a variety of formats for our tournaments that feature individual play as well as team competitions.  Most of our tournaments are well attended by our members, which means we have a very active club.

One of the benefits of belonging to MHMGC is the ability to establish your handicap.  We play our events by the rules of golf and your handicap will reflect your real skill level.  Peer review is something that is very critical in keeping your handicap up to date and you will find our members take this responsibility very seriously.  Our board of directors also takes great pride in monitoring our member’s handicaps, they work hand in hand very closely with the AGA in regards to our member’s handicaps.

Changes to the USGA score posting.
As of January 2024 the USGA has implemented many changes for handicaps. Please refer to the various sections under USGA Rules menu items to see the latest requirements.

Playing alone and necessary peer review: To further support the key System premise of peer review, scores made while playing alone will no longer be acceptable for handicap purposes. This change underscores the importance of providing full and accurate information regarding a player’s potential scoring ability, and the ability of other players to form a reasonable basis for supporting or disputing a posted score. (Section 5-1: Acceptability of Scores)

Feel free to browse our website, which has information on every aspect of the club.  If you have any questions, please refer to the “contact us” tab under the home page.
